Sunday (10/12/2023):- View of former Maternal Grandfather's farmhouse below Mabukal Bridge.

The original over 100 years old farmhouse has been demolished by its new owners and a new Concrete building being built in its place.Only the former " Buffalo Stable( blue colour building)" still hasnt been demolished and is visible in the picture.This former " GONSALVES FARMHOUSE " was picturesque situated on the banks on the Sitanadi River. Now just childhood and recent memories when riding all the way from Mumbai to Barkur in 2019 stopped at this very same spot to click a photo as it is situated on the Mumbai- Mangalore highway just before the Mabukal bridge...In 2019 the original " Gonsalves Farmhouse" was still intact externally in its original 100 years + tiled roofing design although the owner was different.Change is permanent. .

A former "Prawn cultivation Farm" in Mabukala.A brilliant but unprofitable "Entrepreneur venture".

This "Prawn Cultivation Farm" situated next to "Mabukala Bridge Highway" on the "Eastern side"was an Entrepreneurial farming effort by my maternal uncle Mr Godwin.Gonsalves that later proved unprofitable.It remiminded me of the "Crocodile farms" in Madras, a real tourist stop to experience countryside animal husbandry farmimng against the backdrop of a natural river.This "Prawn Farm" was later sold to a new owner and later converted into a commercial weed farm.Protests fro adjoining farmers about "High salinity" due to the "Prawn and later sea-weed " cultivation forced the closure of this entire project.Ironically, today farmers themselves avoid "Rice Cultivation" due to "Non-profitability, hence entire stretches of field lie barren, devoid of crops.
